MATTE Black is our annual rite of spring, an experience at the intersection of music, art, design and digital technology. 2022 was held at the beloved Knockdown Center, and featured DJ sets by Peggy Gou, Heron Preston, Marcel Dettmann, and more. In addition, an international body of artist presented installation pieces as an immersive addition to Black. Artists included  404.Zero, Ivan Navarro, Jacolby Saterwhite, and Benjamin Gordon.

The highly anticipated close to summer, La Luna, went down with a "red room" twist this September at Bogart House. Danilo Plessow of Motor City Drum Ensemble and Xica Soul brought the house down, while Louise Chen closed it out in a surprise set. 


The event was set in an intimate East Williamsburg location at night, with over 400 guests moving to nonstop rhythms and beats courtesy of

. Tunes were a mix of EDM, throwbacks, and a few sultry feel-good melodies that you could sing along to in the crowd.

Full Moon Fest 2018

At the nascence of the Dada movement in 1917, The Blind Man’s Ball was held at Webster Hall as masquerade of the absurd. The night would become a myth, deep in the ethos of New York Bohemia.

100 years later, MATTE reprised this legendary affair at the iconic Alder Mansion for our first ever Halloween party. By

transforming the 72 room gothic mansion into a landscape of music, sublimity and avant-garde activations, we tapped into the essence of the beautiful absurdity, freedom and artistic personalities that characterize the Dada movement and New York Bohemia.

BLACK came to Mexico City for a weekend nonpareil. A chance to explore the city’s most interesting corners and establishments, while all gathering on Saturday night in the abandoned Hotel Reforma for one main event.

Full Moon descended to a new destination on the beaches of Governors Island. A festival with worldly sensibility and New York swagger, Full Moon is one of New York’s largest remaining independent music festivals, and at the forefront of the boutique festival trend. 

Dozens of artists, cultural institutions, culinary divines, and musicians divide over two emblematic locations - Full Moon by Day on the paradisiacal waterfront of Governors Island, and Full Moon by Night held in an undisclosed industrial playground.

To ring in the new year in signature style, MATTE brought back their storied soirée—A PARTY at NYC's CAPITALE in collaboration the grand dame of Los Angeles nightlife, A Club Called Rhonda. 

With two majestic floors of dancing and revelry, A PARTY recalls a bygone time when nightlife meant spectacle, surprise, and intrigue. The night was once again be set beneath the old Bowery Savings Bank’s Corinthian columns, with vaulted 65-foot ceilings under a Venetian glass skylight and expansive marble dance floors.

What took place beneath August's blue moon, backlit by panoramic views of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan skyline, Full Moon transformed Governors Island into an oasis of live music, art installations, and international culinary delights.

DJ sets over the two day festival included Moodymann, Black Coffee, Pusha T, SBTRKT, and more.
